Double Take for Canadian Home Trends Magazine
For the last 4 or 5 years, I’ve been writing for Canadian Home Trends Magazine.. a national Canadian magazine with whom I am proud to be a team member. I have a regular segment there called Double Take which is so much fun to put together.
The goal is to take an item ( or more) and repeat it in another ‘look’ to show that you can truly express yourself differently even though something like the sofa, or a dining table can be the same. The magazine gives me complete free rein which I appreciate so much.
We style the space, I write the notes and the magazine puts it all together with their layout of the words and graphics.
This was the March 2017 issue which we shot at Zilli Home .. what a fun shoot that was!!
This project ended up on the cover of the magazine which was a pleasant suprise….
The process begins with the magazine sending me the location of the sponsor who is allowing us to use their products and space to photograph.
I typically scope out the space, select items for the theme we are aiming for about 3 to 4 weeks before the magazine needs to go to print.
Photographing the vignettes takes about 2 - 4 hours depending on the scope of the shoot and if we area also adding a video for the Marc and Mandy show….
Above was a shoot at Jalice Interiors where we took the same sofa and gave it two different looks for a small condo space… Peter Triantos was the artist who contributed the fabulous art you see on the wall…
This was a vanity shoot at Stone Tile with Native Trails as our partner ..
We’ve done dining rooms, living rooms, christmas themes and vanities to name a few… I really enjoy the expression and tips that come out of the segment… check it out…
