E-Design and Online Consulting

We have been either blessed or cursed by this horrible Virus called COVID 19. I choose to look at it as both… and thought I would say a few words about my experience as a designer before, during and planning on after this MESS…

I was looking at some past projects on my computer and realized that so much of my work has been done as “E-Design”, which is a new thing these days. Communicating with clients via drawings, presentations via Powerpoint and ofcourse phone is a skill that a designer must have. Before we got locked down, I had a call from California for the request to help with a kitchen renovation for a client….. “ofcourse I said… I am happy to do so, we have all the tools (internet) to do so with success”.

Creating something that does not exist ( what designers do)… is inherent to the way a designer thinks. We can solve problems with the proper information as to the goal and some mental creative space in our minds.

Here is a project which was done the traditional way with lots of site visits…but when I break it down… I see that it could have been absolutely been accomplished with less visits, maybe even no visits…

Below are the BEFORE images of the project

I have been using my Ipad pro for a number of years with a number of apps which makes communication of my work clear , concise and best of all FUN for me… I love what I do…it might as well be fun right!!

Here are some of the planning notes I had for this client…. this was for me to have a quick visual chat for the client to understand what was happening in my head… I took a photo and drew right on top on my Ipad… I used to do this on tracing paper in pencil and marker….this technology is a game changer.
